In Borderlands 2, Golden Keys are used on the Golden Chest located in Sanctuary and can award Purple quality equipment, but not Pearlescent or Legendary. Once the SHiFT codes have been successfully redeemed, players will find the new keys in their in-game mailbox, found in the Social tab on the pause menu. This process needs to be repeated for every game and platform, so players who own multiple Borderlands games on multiple platforms should be sure to re-enter the code and redeem it for each instance.
